Couplings and companion flanges

BT Marine tapered couplings are bespoke design and manufacture, tailored to the specific application. We will calculate the key shear and mechanical characteristics and clearances to make sure all of the correct details are ascertained so that whether you are connecting directly to a gearbox output flange or via a flexible coupling system with a bobbin adaptor, your shaft line is connected securely and correctly.

BT Marine can supply IACS class compliant tapered and keyed couplings or for high power applications, a hydraulic fit coupling along with fitted connection bolts where required.

As part of our rigorous inspection programme, shaft lines are fully assembled with their mating components such as propellers and half couplings in our machine shop and checked for fit prior to despatch in order that you can be assured that all the components will fit seamlessly together upon final assembly.

In addition to taper couplings, we offer a range of coated parallel bored clamp style couplings to suit a wide variety of smaller gearbox output flanges – these are shown in the table below.
